FOSTORIA COIN CLUB

The Fostoria Coin Club met at Key Bank, Dec 19, 2011, 7:30p.m.  Pres. Chuck Brandeberry called the meeting to order and welcomed the 30 members and guests.  The secretary and treasure reports were read by Scott Hopkins and approved as read.  The Pres. stated that our club had lost 2 charter members recently.  Dale Reed #1 passed away Nov. 26th and Clayton Wolf #16 passed away Oct. 29th.

Old Business: Pres. Brandeberry said it was time to elect new officers for 2012 and asked for volunteers or nominations.  Gary Moran volunteered to be president, Harry Colvin volunteered to be vice president, and Bruce Hanny volunteered to be Sgt/Arms.  Chuck Brandeberry nominated Phil Warrington to be secretary and Phil Warrington nominated Chuck Brandeberry to be treasure.  Since there were no other nominations the slate of officers were approved.  No one volunteered to be auctioneer so that position still needs to be filled.

Scott Hopkins is stepping down from being treasure after serving for 25 years and Suzanne Hopkins is stepping down from being secretary after serving for 16 years.

New Business:  Phil Cole brought in the club’s raffle tickets and flyers for our coin show March 25, 2012.  Chuck Brandeberry brought in information telling about a rare 1787 gold coin selling for $7.4 million and he also brought in an article telling that the mint claims the presidential coins are not selling well and the mint will now be minting fewer coins and selling them at a premium price.

The club gave out the James Garfield and Rutherford B. Hayes Ohio presidential dollars for Christmas gifts.  Refreshments were served for our Christmas party.  Thanks to everyone who contributed food and worked to make the party enjoyable.

The meeting was adjourned by Gary Moran and Harry Colvin.  Phil Warrington conducted a 30 lot auction.  Door prizes, 1981 proof sets, were won by Levi Brandeberry and Becky Sherrard.  The next meeting will be Jan. 16, 2012.

Respectfully submitted,

Scott Hopkins, Treasure
